The Bird In Hand

We were a group of friends coming from different parts of the country, looking for somewhere that was central for all of us to meet. The Bird in the Hand was very easy to find being on a main road. Parking was easy - there is a large car park at the front of the establishment. We stayed for the best part of the day, starting with coffees around 11:00, having a leisurely lunch at 13:00. The service was very friendly and efficient without being intrusive. The food was enjoyed by all. We had a variety of dishes and none of us was disappointed.

Family meal with 10 people at 12pm on a Sunday. The pub is lovely and in a really good location for our meet up with family. We were a bit reluctant to book because the reviews were read were really mixed but we decided to risk it. Positives: Really attractive pub, lots of space, we had loads of room. The food was delicious. All 10 of us had really good meals. Service was friendly and attentive. Quite a good selection of non alcoholic drinks which given we were all driving was appreciated. Negatives: the menu isn't huge which is absolutely fine, but then the pork roast, mixed roast and trout were all off the menu which, when it is a small menu, is pretty poor and made for a fairly limited menu. They forgot to add a Yorkshire pudding to one of the roasts and one dessert didn't come until everyone had finished their desserts. Staff apologised. Would I book it again? Yes. The food we had was good, nice atmosphere and location worked for us.

A very warm welcome by staff. The staff lovely & were an asset to the hotel! Very nicely decorated room which was peaceful at the rear of the building. Food was very good & reasonably priced. The only thing that let it down was the bathroom could have done with a decoration refresh - lots of marks on the walls & missing grouting. All in all good value for money
