The Black Sparrow

This was our first time to visit Howqua Inlet. Luckily, we found The Black Sparrow just before the long weekend. If you're looking for a quiet and peaceful escape from urban area, here should be on your list of destinations. The nature view around our cottage was just stunning. From dawn to dusk, it brought different feelings to your heart. This trip also made one of my little dreams come true – watching the Milky Way at my own front yard. The beauty and magnificence of the Milky Way is hard to describe in words. We lived in 2-bedroom cottage called ‘Stirling’. We could say every part of the cottage was managed properly, clean and neat. The accommodation practices contactless check-in and check-out, so we didn’t get a chance to meet the owner, Earl. But no problem at all, the communication with Earl was super. Every message or notification always arrived in time when we needed them. This time of the year is hot and dry, so the vegetation on ground and hill bring yellow colour mostly. Looking forward to returning to here again when everything turns green. A little tip for next trip to here, it’s better to bring enough food and drinks. The closest convenience store is still a bit far away and the supplies there were very limited.

We loved our 2 night stay peaceful and clean cabin we stayed in "ruby" perfect views. Just wish we knew how far out it was. Just remember to bring food next time. And tv was disappointing but not a deal breaker as we just grabbed DVDs. Thank you. Jacinta and brett

I recently stayed at The Black Sparrow while supporting my son during his school camp at Camp Howqua—and it was the perfect spot for a little "mama time out." The cabins were clean, cozy, and comfortable, offering just the right balance of simplicity and charm. Set on 50 acres of peaceful native bushland, the property is a true escape into tranquility. Wildlife roam freely, and I was lucky enough to spot deer and kangaroos during my stay, which added to the magic. There’s a paddock with llamas and sheep on-site, and nature trails throughout the property make it ideal for a quiet walk and some reconnection with nature. I booked a cabin mainly for the spa, which unfortunately wasn’t working at the time—but the owner was quick to respond, apologised sincerely, and I trust it’ll be sorted for future guests. Despite that little hiccup, I really enjoyed my stay and am already considering coming back for a girls’ weekend away. The peaceful setting, wildlife, and warm hospitality make The Black Sparrow a beautiful place to unwind.
