The Borrowdale Hotel

This is a 5* review for the afternoon tea — we did book in advance. Some of the best scones we have ever tried and extremely light. The sausage roll and sandwiches were both very filling and full of flavour. All the little sweet things were a lovely touch and not overly sweet. The tea has enough for 4 cups and the silverware pot keeps everything nice and hot. Service immaculate and none of the those staff rushed us in anyway. 85p for a soda and lime with no service charge is extremely underrated. Recommended even if you are not staying the night!

The hotel was wonderful to the point the photos on the website doesn’t do it the justice it deserves. The outdoor beer garden is beautiful. Whilst we were staying here the whole valley had a power cut when we were in the restaurant about to have our evening meal. Therefore, they could only serve cold food, and despite the extra challenges thrown at them, the staff were great, professional and still managed to cater for my girlfriend who is coeliac. I would definitely recommend this place and we look forward to staying here again.

Very dog friendly hotel. Reasonably priced for both room and board. Staff very attentive but unobtrusive as well. Would go back. Rooms at front get views of Derwentwater, we got a snapshot and the kitchen extractor fans.
