The Bostonian Hotel Boston

Overall hotel was VERY dirty and dingy. The lobby is very nice and seems recently renovated, but don't let that fool you as the rest of the space is super old. The hallways were always dirty, the carpet was never vacuumed, the lights are dim and flickering (maybe to distract you from how crusty the walls are) and in general the room is OK at best. The location is great, so that worked out, but I would not recommend staying here.

The location was phenomenal and it was great having a balcony overlooking the Quincy market area. The staff were fine and the housekeeping as efficient as I think they could be. However, this place was built in the early 80s and has clearly been neglected since...it is dying a slow and unstylish death. The bathroom seemed to have been updated in our room, but nothing else. We saw a silverfish...heaven knows how many other pests are in the room. We didn't see bedbugs, thank goodness. The carpets are ancient and stained, as are the curtains. There were MANY ceiling leaks in the hallways. Our room was damp and had a big box fan running when we entered, so there must have been some kind of leak in there, as well. It's a shame...it could be such a beautiful hotel if it was updated and maintained properly. As it is, they are charging way too much. If we hadn't gotten a deal I would have been very upset about the cost. Oh, and it would be best to avoid this area if you want quiet...it is very noisy at night.

Don't do what I did. I know the price looks appealing for the area and the hotel is in a great location (it's only plus) but don't book a room at this nasty hotel. The hotel is old. According to the front desk, it has not been revamped since it was built in the 80's. Believe me- it shows. The elevators are more like freight elevators than elevators in an elegant hotel. The carpet in the rooms are stained, the AC barely works, the bathroom toilet seat would move around when you sat on it. Oh and the water level in the toilet is so high that when you go and wipe, you actually put your hand in the dirty toilet water. I know TMI. I am not a Karen that writes negative reviews. But this story needed to be told. They gave us a "tour" of three different rooms until they found one that was livable. Save your time and don't stay here. It's gross!
