The Bull Hotel Sure Hotel Collection by Best Western

We recently spent 3 nights here and found it a pleasant experience. The room was very comfortable, with air-conditioning (although not all rooms have this). There is a large car park right next to the hotel, which is free for guests. It's very central and easy to walk everywhere. The staff are friendly. We only ate our evening meal there once, but it was very good. It has a nice bar for a pre-bed nightcap. Breakfast was good, but could be better - juice was liable to run out and I've never seen a buffet with such consistently hard fried eggs!

This review is only about the restaurant, but one of our party had a room and was very happy with it. The entrance to the building is lovely, with old features and lovely artwork. The staff were polite but did not ask if more drinks were required during the meal, and even though there were water glasses on the table, no water was provided. Ordering was efficient and everyone got their meals within a couple of minutes of each other. The choice of food on the menu wasn’t quite what I’d expect from a 4 star hotel restaurant, but was adequate. The kings prawn and chicken noodles, we’re served with only one king prawn and a number of very small prawns. The sauce was incredibly salty and those of us who chose that dish weren’t able to complete the dish. Two people made the mistake of ordering roast dinners, which considering the restaurant was near empty, was always going to be a pre-prepared microwaved offering- they didn’t eat all of their meal either. Those who had the steak said it was lovely with no complaints. I had cash with me, but that wasn’t accepted, which is an annoyance. The public bar was busy and had a lovely decor and atmosphere, but overall a bit disappointing, and I wouldn’t consider having a meal there, in future.

Rooms are in desperate need of updating, cleaning and SOUNDPROOFING. Every night this week been constantly woken up at 2 or 4 am to constantly noise, then the window has zero view, expect of the neighbouring buildings air-conditioning unit. This hotel suffers from overheating too. All this combined makes getting any sleep impossible. No lift either. No easy parking. Will never be staying at again.
