A lovely hotel in stunning surrounds. Take one step outside of the hotel and you have a gorgeous view of the village with a superb mountain backdrop. We had a few issues with our booking (we didn't have a room when we arrived) but the hotel were excellent in providing solutions and we ended up having a lovely stay.
Booked the Brasserie on the Green for my husband’s birthday. It was a very underwhelming experience. The service was utterly appalling and to be honest l don’t think the two guys young running the restaurant had a single clue what they are doing. The decor is weird (and not is a good way), the standard lamp in the corner was covered in a thick layer of dust and it would seem that the restaurant doesn’t even own a set of matching wine glasses (l was served my wine in a branded cider glass!!). The starter was ok but very under seasoned, the main course was good, but it would be nice to be able to order side dishes as some of the dishes contain very little carbs. The end of the evening was ruined by the two waiters deciding to cover us in clouds of disinfectant spray as they cleared up the tables either side of us, so we left at 10pm £200 lighter, disappointed, and to be honest a bit hungry.
Embarrassing - my in-laws came all the way from Jersey for the week - while they were here their friends whom they hadn't seen for years came to visit them (2 from Norfolk and 1 from Glasgow) they asked me to recommend somewhere really special to eat - I love Reeth and have stayed and eaten at The Burgoyne and thought it would be perfect - they booked on-line but got there to find that there was no reservation - the on-line booking was visible but hadn't been written down and there was no food available for them - the waiters were very inexperienced and didn't offer much in the way of apology - I would have thought a refund on the drinks that they had already ordered would be the least that they could do and a recommendation for an alternative restaurant - they eventually booked them a table at the pub over the road but only once prompted to do so - the food at The Buck was perfectly fine but it wasn't quite the experience they were after - I feel responsible for their disappointment as it was with my recommendation - I feel embarrassed and that I've let North Yorkshire down 👎
