The Burlington Hotel

A lovely stay at this beautiful seafront hotel. Reception staff were super friendly on arrival. The bright, clean room had lovely toiletries and a super comfortable bed. The powerful shower was excellent. Breakfast staff were exceptionally friendly, though the breakfast room mirror needed cleaning and the orange juice tasted like concentrate. The setting and building are stunning. Checkout staff seemed stressed, despite me being the only guest at reception, and wouldn’t hold my small rucksack for a few hours, which was disappointing. Overall, a clean, lovely hotel I’d recommend and definitely return to.

The food was very good and they did cater for my very fussy requirements. All the catering staff were very good except for Louis who was exeptional. He was on the ball, very aware of people's needs and had a very friendly and helpful manner. If all the staff were like him it would be great. There was problem involving one guest at Reception because he didn't have a government-issued id on him and it was a Health and Safety requirement! He was told that he could not stay at the hotel despite having a railcard photo id on his phone. He was very civil to the staff but was only allowed to stay because the manager intervened and said he could. Another guest asked a few times for a receipt and was told, quite rudely, that he couldn't have one - how hard would that have been to provide him with one? I was not impressed with the treatment of these paying guests. If i had been treated like that, I would not be going there again. My wife and I had a lovely four nights and would stay at this hotel again but would hope that one or two of the Reception staff would receive further training.

Lovely area, let down by lack of parking but there’s lots of street parking. No aircon in room, but was provided a fan, I know this only matters about 3 weeks out of the year we just happened to stay on the hottest weekend so would have suffered anywhere we stayed! Bit outdated but it adds to the character would have looked stupid if it was a modern hotel in the area! Great food and bar, lovely sitting having breakfast in the sun.
