The Chapter Kyoto a Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott

Fantastic Value and Great Experience: The Chapter Kyoto was a pleasant surprise. The hotel was extremely clean, and the staff added thoughtful touches I didn’t expect at this category – management is clearly doing an excellent job. The breakfast was good, and the restaurant served really tasty food throughout the day. The onsen was a great way to relax after exploring. The room had a nice Japanese flair and was bigger than the average in Japan – definitely spacious enough. The overall design of the hotel was modern, stylish, and very well thought out. The location is excellent for exploring Kyoto, and overall, this place offers incredible value for the money. Highly recommended.

Modest rooms. Laundry room was very helpful. Amazing bartender. Breakfast was the most disappointing part - entire bread selection was old and stale with limited options otherwise. Not worth the full price. We tried to use the public bath but it was getting cleaned UNTIL 2pm so that was a bust as well. Overall, glad to only be staying here one night.

Did not expect this from a Marriott or the price. The room was very small, the bathroom is very cheap feeling as if it was prefabricated and the window didn't open, and the gym was tiny. The good: The room had a 100% blackout blind which was great for sleeping. The clothes washing facilities were good. The communal bath was the best part of the hotel, very nice and it had 2 parts one indoor and one outdoor but sheltered.
