We received a lovely warm welcome on arrival. Parking was easy and convenient. Our room had a beautiful view of the harbour and the bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice.
Felt like we were interrupting a childrens party on arrival. Master key was left in our door. Room had not been checked as there was make up and a pair of shoes left there. The only good thing was the view but we did not stay to look out of the 'ill fitting' window for our stay. The waitress was 'surly' and didn't even ask if I wanted extra bacon, sausage or egg as I didn't have a full breakfast. No extra toast was offered or tea/coffee and didn't ask if everything was o.k. She should have her hair tied back when serving food too! No sign of landlady and not made to feel welcome, more of a hindrance to be honest. The shower had no power and it was impossible to even brush your teeth in the tiny apology of a wash basin! The wiring left a lot to be desired in the room as neither the TV worked or the lights above the dressing table. Very old fashioned with angular chairs positioned on the turnings up the stairway - not easy when you are 47 stairs up!! The boiler had a constant humming outside of our door and therefore, could not sleep. Think the place needs a massive overhaul and maybe the landlord may learn to smile as he didn't even make eye contact when we paid to check out. We were told it was free parking but despite the rainy weather there wasn't a space to be had so it cost us £13 for less than a 24 hour stay. We will never stay there again and advise our friends to steer clear of the place too!!
Our room was on the top floor - up 6 sets of stairs ( we are both in our 70s).The room was dirty - sand residue in shower cubicle, shower barely a trickle, hair clumps on bathroom floor on arrival, headboard thick with dust, mattress very old and uncomfortable. Public areas very dusty.
