The Chequers Hotel

This is a lovely little hotel in Newbury - the rooms are to a high standard and both of our bathrooms looked recently updated. My shower didn’t work it was stuck on bath tap, but that was okay to overlook. Friendly and helpful staff and a good spacious car park with plenty of spaces. We were a little upset to have been told on the night before breakfast was until 10, incorrectly, but when we went down at 9.20 it actually ended at 9.30 so we missed out on most stuff as it was being cleared away. Overall for the price though we were very impressed and would happily stay here again.

Stayed for just 1 night. Hotel has so much history about it so don't expect perfection. We had a DBB deal I'd it was such good value. Our room 124 was large and bright with a decent bed. A fan was provided as well. The staff were exceptionally helpful. The breakfast was lovely and dinner was good. Also free parking as long as you register your car details. We would definitely stay again

Very good apart from one hiccup. I came back to my room after an exhausting day out to find my bed had been stripped of all covers, even pillow cases, mattress bare and pillows without covers on the floor. Also bins had been emptied but no fresh liners put in. The receptionist was very helpful and left her position to go and make the bed for me which I was very grateful for. Thank you. Otherwise stay was good.
