This hotel is a very unique experience, especially if you are use to chain hotels. It was very kid friendly. Breakfast wasn't as big as you get at a chain but definitely better than some places I've stayed. Our room was right by the sitting room and entry to the pool, which was awesome! I just wish that their poolside rooms were family friendly and not just couples. All of the staff was cordial and helpful. Definitely would stay again!!
The hotel impressed me from the moment I stepped inside. It is decorated in a classic style with many antiques and paintings. Each room is named an author, writer, or screenwriter—and uniquely, it includes a book by that author. Breakfast in the morning offers a variety of delicious pastries, fresh fruits, and coffee always available. The staff is very welcoming and enthusiastic. There is plenty of convenient parking. The hotel is close to Forest Park, making it ideal for a morning jog. I will choose this hotel whenever I visit St. Louis.
I have been at the Fox and Hound several times at the Cheshire, but this was the first time I have ever stayed in the hotel. The hotel has a very neat old English estate vibe to it. But overall, I wasn’t too impressed with my stay. First off, we saw employees smoking marijuana in the stair well. There was a consistent smell of weed in the parking garage as well. One evening there was what appeared to be a homeless man drunk and singing in the lobby. The employees tried to deal with him, but he kept on walking away from them and went into the elevator. Breakfast was good, but wasn’t fully ready at the time posted. The worst part was when we were in the pool one evening, and two employees got into the water as well, at one point I looked over my shoulder, and it looked like they were doing some inappropriate things under the water to each other. It was also pretty hot outside and the AC doesn’t work very well.
