The Chicago Hotel Collection Magnificent Mile

My family and I have been regularly booking at this hotel for a while. We almost always book here because it is within close walking distance to Northwestern University Hospital where my father receives treatments. We don't just book here because of the location, but because of the front desk staff and the quality service they provide. Raymond in particular always goes above and beyond with his kindness and helpfulness, and provides top notch customer service. We look forward to interacting with him each time we visit, and he deserves his own 5 star review. The only small complaint that we had was with our most recent stay was with our bedsheets and tidiness of the room. The bed sheets seemed clean, but not freshly clean. They had a noticeably musty smell that was off-putting. These issues are definitely not something that will deter us from returning as guests, but is something that I hope doesn't become a common occurrence for our future stays. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that is needing to stay within close proximity to the Northwestern University Hospital area. If you are needing a more affordable option for longer or frequent stays within this area, this is the place to book in my opinion.

We had a wonderful time. The staff went above and beyond. Rooms were clean, beautiful spacious. Directly in the middle of all Chicago action. The food and atmosphere was great from breakfast in the morning to dinner and drinks in the lobby in the evening. We did not get hit with any surprise fees or hidden charges. We will be back!

The only reason I booked this hotel was because we were traveling with a group of friends, and others had already made their reservations. I decided to go along for the sake of convenience. In the end, you’ll likely pay nearly double the advertised price. For that amount, you can find other hotels in Chicago that don’t come with the hassle of unexpected fees. Now, about the hotel itself: the location is excellent, and the room was comfortable, though it’s showing signs of wear and could use some renovations soon. One pleasant surprise was the breakfast—it was great. The staff at the breakfast area were courteous and attentive. Check-in, however, was a frustrating experience. There was a long line, mainly because many guests were only learning about the extra charges at that point. This led to arguments, complaints, and frequent calls for a manager, all of which slowed down the process significantly. While the hotel insists that all fees are disclosed in the fine print, it’s not a very transparent or guest-friendly approach. In conclusion, while the hotel itself is decent and well-located, I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re prepared for the additional charges. For the total cost, there are better, more upfront options available in the city.
