The Churchill Hotel

We held our daughter’s birthday party in the gardens which are fabulous. The party was fabulous and a huge thank you to Rachel Sherwood who is an asset to the business. Rachel knew from the first time we met exactly what we were hoping for and she delivered. The day was organised and everything went smoothly. The food was amazing, the drinks were flowing and it was a fabulous day. I would highly recommend this hotel to host an event. Thank you to all of the team for making my daughter’s day so special.

I recently stayed at The Churchill Hotel in York and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The rooms were decently spacious, providing plenty of comfort for a relaxing stay, and the bathroom facilities were a standout—modern, luxurious, and immaculately clean. The concierge service was quick, friendly, and incredibly helpful, always ready with a smile and solid recommendations. One of the highlights of my stay was the staff’s support in planning my visit—offering insightful suggestions for touring York and its historical gems, which added so much value to the trip. Location-wise, The Churchill couldn’t be better placed. It’s just a short, pleasant walk into York’s vibrant city centre, yet also ideally situated for easy access to the North York Moors and the coast at Whitby, making it perfect for both city exploration and countryside escapes. The only disappointing aspect was that the images of the rooms shown on their website did not match what I received. While the room quality was still very good, I would urge the management to update the images to more accurately reflect the various room types and layouts. Overall, I highly recommend The Churchill Hotel to anyone visiting York. The combination of comfort, service, and convenience made for a wonderful experience, and I would gladly return on a future visit!

We couldn't get a table in the dining room, so we settled for bar service. The food and drinks were fine, but the staff were less than warm. We had to ask several times for a glass of water. It was fun seeing so much Churchill memorabilia - the most memorable being the smoking hut in the hotel parking lot.
