The City Arms

We needed somewhere in or close to Wells at late notice for one night to meet our friends after our original plans changed. From the initial contact Terri was so helpful and accommodating. Fortunately for us the Mellls was available which was great for our family of 3. The warmth of Terri’s welcome as we arrived was so refreshing in these days of lock boxes and self check ins! She offered us tea & scones in the beautiful inner courtyard garden and sat and had a chat. The Cross has been beautifully converted from a pub and is a perfect place to relax in a beautiful village. The bed was very comfortable and we were provided with soft towels which included large bath sheets - large enough to fit around even the larger girth! The breakfast was fresh, and plentiful - both continental options and cooked full English to order. This place reminds me how B&Bs used to be run in bygone days (well the good ones anyway!). It’s not just a room/place to sleep but a whole experience! Honestly, nothing seemed too much trouble for Terri and I cannot recommend The Cross high enough. I’d give her 6 stars if I could! Thank you Terri! We would definitely stay again! And I also highly recommend eating at the George Inn which is conveniently just a 2 minute walk, also in this charming village.

Stayed with Terri again after Glastonbury Festival after staying on a number of previous years. Absolutely perfect in every way. Arrived to some nice cold Ice Creams in the sunshine, lovely touch. Terri and team as always it's been an absolute pleasure to stay with you, the breakfast was stunning as always. Cannot wait to stay again in 2027 (Glastonbury tickets permitting) X

A five-star B&B experience. Probably the best B&B we've stayed in. We stayed in the Sheppey room which has a king-sized bed, armchairs, and a large bathroom with claw-foot bath and shower. Guests also have access to a lovely lounge, a bar area and a garden terrace. A wide selection of breakfast cereals and fruit plus a full hot breakfast is offered. A great place to be based to explore all that Somerset has to offer.
