I’ll start by saying the resort is absolutely beautiful. The service this year was drastically better than this time last summer. Everyone was friendly and helpful and we had no issues getting reservations for meals. The Beach Club didn’t seem as crowded, either. My reason for three stars is a pretty big one. While our room was gorgeous and had an amazing view of the river, the humidity in the room was insane. I should have known when we walked in and there were two dehumidifiers on the floor that something was up. They both had to be running full blast in order for the rugs and linens to not feel damp to the touch. They were loud. If you sleep with white noise, it probably won’t be an issue but I prefer silence. There was also a large mold spot on the ceiling of the bathroom and mold spots growing on the framed print in the bathroom. If you check in and are assigned Room 69, don’t take it. I normally would have requested another room. However, when we made our reservation we were told the Cloister was full and we would have to book a room at the Lodge. The day before we checked in we were told a room had opened up at the Cloister. My guess is that whoever had the room before us checked out early or switched to another property because of the dampness. I didn’t want to have to switch rooms (the location of this room was great) so I didn’t complain. But they really shouldn’t be renting this room. It also had a really odd smell. Not really like mold, but maybe some sort of cleaner. Almost an ammonia like smell. Whatever it was, it was pretty terrible.

Really nice hotel and beach club. Unfortunately, about half the staff are foreign born, english second language workers on temporary visas. Was really hard to communicate with the check-in desk and other wait staff throughout our stay because of the language barrier and lack of attention to detail/competence. Lots of examples I could go into. Got to the point where I felt relieved every time I interacted with an American worker. I guess they are having hiring issues or don’t want to pay locals a fair wage. I don’t get it. Could be a “luxury 5 star experience” but ended up feeling like a cheap cruise.
