13 June 2025 - stayed overnight in one of their super king accommodations that overlooks the most stunning countryside. Its location is perfection for a night away from London. We were at an event at nearby Quendon Hall and local taxi companies were super friendly and reliable (recommended by the staff at The Cricketers). Our group had 5 separate rooms and they were all decorated to perfection and the beds were super comfortable. Breakfast the following morning was delicious and a great start to the day. Would absolutely visit again!

Restaurant Review Only. Lovely setting with great ambience and really solid service - warm, attentive, not overbearing. They had a beer & cider festival with tents and local booze to test, and a live singer which was fun. Had a Sunday Road which was decent overall (a solid 4), but just missed the mark in places. Roast veg felt like an afterthought (like sliced leeks and just a bit boring), potatoes dry inside, and the Eton mess was light on fruit, but the food was tasty- otherwise it’d have been a 5. Would come back for sure (vs The Angel in Stoke-on-Nayland is in the same group, and their food was equal to this but more expensive).

Went to this place last night. Whilst the staff were friendly and decent and the vibe was good with a 'The Beertles' event on, the food was quite frankly appalling for the price. Between four of us, we had cold sauces, undercooked chips ans potatoes, overcooked meat and then worst of all, Sausages that were still red/pink and not cooked in the middle. We were in fairness offered a discount for the food, but for a meal that would have been nearly £200 for four of us, this place was definately underwhelming and somewhere I wouldn't reccomend unless there are some changes. We noticed the table next to us also refused a plate of food and sent some bits back too.......so although the drinks were ok, i certainly wouldn't reccomend this place for its food.
