We got one of the main suites for our wedding weekend last May 2024- the room was absolutely stunning and had enough room for over 20 girls to get ready in for my wedding and take photos. There is a patio for people to cool off and the lighting was PERFECT to do hair and makeup. The staff was wonderful and brought us anything needed (chairs, mirrors, coolers, room service, etc) in a timely manner without question or hesitation. I would highly recommend this hotel to any bride that is looking for a calming/ pretty setting to go to before and after your wedding festivities!

Pure luxury! Starting from the warm welcome in the lobby, through the luxurious rooms, to the individually prepared breakfast served in your room. I also find the staff to be absolutely friendly and attentive. There is a rooftop terrace where you can sunbathe if you wish, and food and drinks are also served there. The hotel is located right next to a stadium, where concerts are held as well. This can get very loud, and during our stay, there was a concert, so it was quite noisy until 11 PM. However, the hotel cannot do anything about that. Nonetheless, it’s a good idea to check in advance if there are any events at the stadium before booking.

TL;DR: Trendy design but major multi-day party noise issues and not five-star service. Clean room, no fridge (just a Yeti cooler), and loud music until 2–3 AM. Staff tried to help, but we had to move rooms multiple times. Would not stay again. We stayed at The Douglas for three nights and really wanted to love it, but overall, it did not live up to the five-star reputation. Check-in was just okay — a bit of a wait while a few staff members were chatting nearby. On the plus side, we were able to check in early. The room was clean and had a modern design, but it did not feel especially luxurious. Also worth noting: there is no mini fridge. Instead, you get a Yeti cooler and ice packs, which sounds trendy but ended up being pretty inconvenient. Not great when you are trying to store leftovers or keep drinks cold. The biggest issue was the noise. On our first night, there was a DJ party happening one floor below us, and the bass could be felt through the floors and windows. It was loud. We were told the music would go until 3 AM, and that nothing could be done. The next day, we were offered a room change — but after waiting and moving, the same noise was happening in the new room. Eventually, we were moved a second time to the opposite side of the hallway, which was a big improvement, but even then, we could still hear the bass faintly. We also noticed another guest being moved for the same reason, so it seems like this is a known issue. Aside from that, nothing about the amenities or service really stood out. For the price and the rating, I expected more — especially when it comes to comfort and rest. Sadly, I would not stay here again. Vancouver has plenty of great hotels, and I think there are better options out there that offer a quieter, more relaxing stay.
