The Douglas Hotel

The staff at The Douglas were wonderful — friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Breakfast was included and absolutely delicious, and dinner in the restaurant was equally amazing. Our room was lovely and comfortable. My only suggestion for future guests would be to provide hair conditioner, as there was only shampoo available, which I found unusual. Similarly, body moisturizer would be a welcome addition, as I generally expect these amenities when traveling.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Douglas Hotel. The room was comfortable, clean and roomy. The food was great and the staff were very pleasant and attentive. The girl is ideally placed for access to the ferry terminal and for exploration of the rest of the island.

We stopped here for lunch and were impressed by the building, gardens and position right on the sea front. Lunch menu wasn't extensive but typical pub grub. When we arrived we asked if it was table service or order at the bar. Waiter was fairly indifferent and said we could do either. We both ordered fish and chips. We were served quickly but no one came to check if the food was okay. Presentation looked good except for the chips which were very crisp and overdone with lots of tiny burnt bits. Fish was very disappointing- tasteless and watery underneath the batter. We would not return here for food as it is not value for money. Pros: Beautiful location and very clean. Toilets were spotless even though it was very busy. Great location to have drinks inside or outside. Cons: Poor quality food which is not value for money. Service could be more attentive and helpful. Brodick itself is lovely with views of Goat Fell which can be seen from the hotel.
