Dining at The Duke of Marlborough was an absolute highlight — elevated cuisine in a charming coastal setting. We started with fresh oysters, perfectly chilled and briny, and then came the showstopper: the pork belly — hands down the best I’ve ever had. Tender, flavorful, beautifully plated, and paired with the silkiest sauce and delicate garnishes. A total dream. But what made it even more special? Laura from Germany, our lovely server, who made us feel so welcome and cared for throughout the meal. Her kindness and professionalism added a personal touch that elevated the experience beyond just great food. On a trip to Russel from Auckland we visite the The Duke of Marlborough always a must place to visit. With views of the bay and eclectic interiors. Service was exceptional, drinks were topped up constantly and we had a really delicious meal. The low season is never an easy time in tourist towns so make sure you make sure you add this places to visit.

On a beautiful sunny winter day we decided to have lunch at the Duke of Marlborough after googling restaurants on Russell. What a beautiful position on the waterfront and a charming hotel. We were greeted and seated by a lovely lady so off to a good start. Unfortunately the food was mediocre. A medium rare steak was ordered and at a cost of $57.00 the steak was well done with very few vegetables and absolutely no flavour. Very disappointing and totally overpriced.
