The Ellerby Country Inn

Great location for Whitby and the surrounding area. Breakfast choices were excellent and well cooked using quality ingredients. Evening meal was fab. The crab salad is highly recommended! What made the stay was the very attentive staff. Nothing was too much trouble and always served with a smile.

Now I like a moan as much as the next man but the ellerby has me stumped. The place is immaculate. The room was beautifully presented, the bed was very comfortable and the en suite was very nice and clean. The garden is a really nice place to be out in the sun and it even has a half hourly bus service to whitby. The food was amazing and the portions were very generous (and I can eat). The best part though i have to say was the staff. Everyone there was so happy and friendly, it was infectious. . Even the cleaning staff, and it was red hot when we stayed all had a smile om their faces and said hello. We took our dog for the weekend and she was catered for as well as us. She had a little welcome pack with treats and a blanket to sleep on and was given a sausage every morning at breakfast. I really don't see how they could do better really. We only went for the weekend but I could happily spent a fortnight there without fear of getting bored. It's a 10 from Len.

Absolutely fantastic all round. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The menu was reasonably extensive with something for everyone and a competitively priced wine and beer menu. However, the hotel jewel is the staff. Each and everyone of them go out of their way to make your stay with them very special. They are a credit to the hotel ownership. I couldn't say a negative thing about any aspect. Thank you.
