Stayed here one night, intended to arrive at lunch but were delayed so ended up being very late but five bells called me to make sure everything was OK , offered early breakfast, amazing room and building. Fantastic service at breakfast - lovely interior to boot, really charming location. Would love to come back and would certainly recommend to anyone reading this review!
We had a really enjoyable experience and time at the Five Bells Inn. The Ortega room we stayed in was wonderfully presented and extremely cozy, clean and tidy. Amazing bathtub! The quality of bedding is outstanding which will ensure a very good night's sleep indeed. There are very good quality bath/soap products to use also. Some of the floorboards creek, so be warned, but we loved it as it adds to the character of this centuries old building. The gardens are superbly kept and are a wonderful spot to enjoy your drink and food. The food we had for lunch and dinner was excellent, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast was our absolute highlight, and really was superb. All drinks and food are reasonably priced and good quality. All staff are polite and laid back, so don't be in too much of a rush in expecting your drinks. A wonderful village setting surrounded by 3 vineyards. Would definitely return.
I booked online where it had asked for card details for a £15.00 per person cancellation fee (fair enough i thought if it’s a good pub and busy makes sense). On arrival the pub seemed to have very little people at tables and you could have picked a table almost anywhere. We was told there was no table service in the garden. We ended up sitting in the outhouse tent bit so not the garden. I still had to go up and order, not once was we asked how our food was, plates just left on the table after being finished and had to go to the bar to get and pay for the bill. The food was very expensive for what it was. The beef was average. The vegetables were fine but the roast potatoes almost tasted frozen, I don’t believe they was but I’m sure they had been re heated! They did not taste good! To sum up overall it was very bland and not worth anywhere near what it cost. And to then add a 10% service charge! Choose a different pub if you don’t want to be disappointed .
