A convenient rest stop for my drive from Heathrow to Cornwall, although in a hire car the narrow lanes did have me a little concerned. The welcome and check in was quick with minimal fuss. The rooms are all located across the car park from the pub/restaurant, so you're not disturbed by any late night noise. My spacious large double room smelt clean and had a tea/coffee tray with packets of tasty biscuits (thank you). However it was a little cold, but there was no problem turning the heating on. The pub is delightfully run by the owners, they're both extremely friendly and really do want you to have a pleasant stay. The food was home cooked and excellent, being pretty much a full restaurant is testament to that. Breakfast is served until 9am for the non morning guests or from 7.30am for the early risers. Overall a lovely stay.
We used this establishment as a meeting point before catching a ferry from Plymouth the following day. The rooms are spacious, and clean with excellent facilities. The hosts were very accommodating and friendly, but the crowning glory was the food served... It was...... "divine"..... is the only word I can think of to use... Served by friendly staff, all of whom had lovely senses of humour, combined with professionalism, and a good knowledge of the menu. We all can't recommend this establishment highly enough for both food and accommodation, especially at such a reasonable price, and will definitely use it again.... Thank you for making us all feel so welcome... The Tuesday Clan x
We stayed here as a family of three with a dog in May, 2025, to visit family. We arrived and were quickly given the keys to our room, perfect for the three of us. We then went for dinner and the Caribbean/British fusion was a great hit, we had a few combination dishes (curry and plantain, etc) which were very tasty, however the best part was the service. Each person chatted to us, which was so nice. We had a brilliant night's sleep and in the morning had a great break, with veggy options too. So good to have an independent hotel in the area, will be back!
