We had lunch at this hotel today! Couldn’t recommend it more. It was exactly what we wanted: healthy and delicious food. Staff was incredibly friendly. The hotel itself looks very inviting.

We had a truly wonderful stay at The Fort Printers. From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for. A special mention must go to Sachid, who checked in on us throughout the day and made sure we were happy and comfortable at every turn — his warmth and attentiveness really stood out. The hotel itself is charming, set in a beautifully restored heritage building that captures the rustic elegance of Galle Fort. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, with high ceilings and characterful touches. As it’s an older building, there’s a little paint peeling here and there, but this only adds to the authentic, historic feel — it certainly didn’t detract from the experience. Initially, we were placed in a room near the road, which did get a bit noisy at night due to barking dogs (nothing the hotel can control), and it kept our 3-year-old waking up. The staff were incredibly understanding and accommodating — they quickly arranged for us to move to a quieter room, which made a huge difference to our stay and really showed how much they care about guest comfort. The hotel also makes a conscious effort to be sustainable. Shampoo and body wash are provided in glass refillable bottles, and items like shower caps are not supplied as standard — but can be requested if needed. We appreciated this thoughtful approach and the balance they strike between comfort and eco-consciousness. The pool is on the smaller side but perfectly suited to the size of the hotel and immaculately maintained. It offers a lovely spot to cool off and relax after exploring the fort. There are no TVs, fridges, or in-room tea/coffee facilities, which might matter to some, but we didn’t mind at all. A small communal kitchen is available if you do need those things. With so much to enjoy around Galle, we were more than happy to disconnect and soak up the atmosphere. Breakfast was a highlight — healthy and fresh, with options like fruit smoothies, granola, eggs, and avocado toast. The staff even offered to prepare breakfast early for us when we had to leave before the usual serving time, which was incredibly thoughtful. Overall, The Fort Printers is a small boutique hotel that truly values its guests. The personal service, peaceful setting, and attention to detail made it a memorable stay. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a more intimate and authentic experience in Galle. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Unfortunately this isn't going to be a pleasant review... This is only about the restaurant of this hotel in case anyone is interested in going. We went to this restaurant/hote for a breakfast. For the blandest and most Spartan poached eggs in the photo (and a mediocre omelette) and two juices, we paid over 35 euros (13.500 or similar Sri Lankan rupees) In comparison, right after that we went to a super nice beach club, stayed all day, ate and drank good food and drinks while enjoying the beach, and paid the same amount. This was by far the most expensive and least satisfying food I had in my entire trip in Sri Lanka. I feel unlucky to have made this mistake.
