I live in the area and utilized a day pass to the pool today with my granddaughter. The facilities are great, except one thing. I loved that there are shaded areas with table and chairs for those that prefer shade, like me. The pools are very clean and there's a beach style entrance on one so you can just walk into the water. The lifeguards are very attentive and nice. My granddaughter loved the slide! We ordered lunch poolside (what a treat!) and prices were reasonable. The only thing I was disappointed in were the lounge chairs. Soooo uncomfortable, and many are cracked. At least you offer towels to the public and I used one to pad the seat. It's almost time to buy new loungers, PLEASE ensure they are comfortable! I plan to return, and possibly buy a summer pass.
What a stunning venue! Beautiful grounds! I'd have given them 5 stars but we had room issues (dirty and it took 3 times asking for help to get it clean). BUT, I'll tell you, the service you get from the staff is AMAZING! VERY kind, respectful and absolutely did their best to make up for my frustrations. Front desk was Tyler & Grace. I wish I remembered the head housekeeper who ended up doing the work himself and was SO good! The staff in the restaurant were also very attentive. I wish I had more time to explore the area and take more photos. If we return to Virginia Beach, I'm staying at Founders Inn!!!
Horrible experience. I DO NOT recommend this hotel. We checked in for a planned two-night stay. The first room we were given had an AC that was broken - it was extremely loud (like a jet engine), rattled. Clearly it was installed improperly and needed fixing. We were told there was no engineering staff that day to do repairs, so the only option was to move. We were moved to a different room, which had the same problem and a barking dog next door to boot. We were moved to a third room. This room had a loud/rattling AC as well and a bizarre set of issues, including a toilet so low that I tweaked my knee trying to use it and a shower with only a handheld shower head and only a trickle of water. We were told there were no other options, so we had to stick with this room. The night was horrific. The AC was SO loud and rattling that it sounded like someone using a leaf blower right by my head. I slept for maybe an hour. To add insult to injury, we were woken up early in the morning by the POLICE. Two police officers knocked on our door, with a guest, for an issue that turned out to be in the room next to us. This was the last straw. We decided to check out early and cut our vacation short. The staff was very apologetic and said that we should 100% get a refund, but since we booked through Capital One Travel, they would have to issue the refund. HOWEVER, when we called Capital One Travel and they contacted the hotel to verify, the staff said that there were NO problems and we should not get a refund. They denied all the issues and said we have no proof, so too bad. Long story short, avoid this hotel at all costs. The management is untrustworthy, and the rooms are unacceptable.
