The G Hotel and Spa

Stayed 2 nights during Galway race week,bedroom and bathroom are spectacular. We had something to eat in the bar both nights, excellent quality and reasonably priced . Breakfast is cooked to order and a wide variety of choice. Nice hotel for a special occasion.

LOCATION The hotel is 30 minutes walking distance from the center. The walk is nice along the river so it is nice. It is close to the shopping center so there is plenty of parking space. STAFF. Staff is nice and welcoming. We had a very nice introduction tour of the hotel facilities before getting to our room. ROOM. The room was quite spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was big as well. We had free wifi with good speed. We had breakfast in the hotel, that was very good. All dishes are very well prepared. Overall we were very satisfied with our stay in the hotel We had our room close to some renovation works in the hotel, and once we were woken up by the workers drilling walls at 8 in the morning.

The only thing 5 star about this hotel is the price. Maybe it was posh in the 1980s but now it just looks strange, dark, and dingy. The decor is wild and everything has a strange fishy/perfumed smell in the lobby. You’ll get to know the lobby well because they don’t offer early check in. Once you finally get to check in, I will say they actually try to create a five star experience by offering prosecco and terrible desserts. Now let’s get to the room. The decor is again outdated. There is mold on the shower walls and floors. Be sure to bring your shower shoes to this 5 star hotel. The sheets are such low thread count, my husband even noticed they felt “rough”. The windows are huge so you can enjoy the view of the strip mall attached to the hotel. Everything else is a 30 minute walk from the hotel. It’s not near anything. I feel so duped by this hotel and it’s rating. Such a waste of valuable vacation funds.
