Absolutely amazing stay – highly recommended! We stayed at this hotel from July 22 to 24 and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional from the moment we arrived. The room was clean, comfortable, and beautifully presented. The thermal pool was fantastic — very relaxing and perfect for unwinding. It was also a lovely surprise to receive a complimentary gift from the hotel, which made us feel even more welcomed. Everything was well-organized, and the atmosphere was calm and peaceful. The location is excellent and close to everything we needed. We would recommend this place 200% and will definitely return. Thank you for making our stay so special!

The Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel exceeded expectations. The unassuming entrance opens to a polished, grand interior just steps from the Ancient Roman Baths and great eateries. Staff were friendly, upgraded our room, and even tracked down items I’d left behind—a huge relief. Our upgraded room was spotless, with a bathroom almost as big as the main room, and the bed gave me one of the best night’s sleeps I’ve had. Only downside was the in-room phone not working, but overall, a wonderful stay.

Ideally, I could have given the hotel a 3.5/5 or so, not just 3*. The location is great. I couldn’t imagine a better location to tour Bath. The staff were very helpful and pleasant and what one would expect for a nicer hotel. The facility is newer and shows well. The Thermal Bath experience is quite nice and available for four hours per day, unfortunately not during the best times, for hotel guests without an additional fee. Breakfast was decent. Bed was very good. The air conditioning worked great! But details matter and this is where they fell short of reasonable expectations. First, and most disappointing, my wife and I each had massages, from two different therapists, and our reactions were the same - they were terrible, we both have massages frequently and I have them all over the world. Things we asked to be worked on were ignored. These were downright awful and way way overpriced. Next was the cleanliness. Some common areas like hallway doors, etc. looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in months. Not everywhere but definitely noticeable throughout the hotel. Also, the hallway outside of our room, 011, was absolutely rank. For three days we had to take a breath and hold our nose every time we went in the short section between two doors just outside our room. The next hallway was better but still had a foul odor. Finally, there were some maintenance items. Some were corrected like a missing iron but only after they came and inspected to make sure we just didn’t miss it being where it was supposed to be. The ironing board looked beaten and was bent so it couldn’t stand up straight. The switch controlling the door activated light in our closet had come unglued from the wood meaning that the light kept on 24-7 which was not the best for sleeping. We asked for that to be fixed but no one ever came by. Great staff, great location, some special features like the thermal spa but not up to snuff for a 5* hotel and the spa treatments were disappointing.
