The George Inn

A lovely small market town pub! Under new ownership! The food was awesome, well cooked , great flavours , but not trying to be a “restaurant “ Pricing was bang on Had the posh fishfinger sandwich and was really good. Friend had Caesar Salad and it was amazing Owner is really friendly and he is chef My only little gripe was the server, he was a little forgetful, didn’t bring the water asked for , forgot to bring the additional chips , and didn’t pick up that the wine bottle was empty … always ask if the customer wants another , often when asked the temptation is to great ! This should not put anyone off eating or drinking in this really lovely pub !! I will be going back !

Helpful friendly staff and new manager Lee went above and beyond to accommodate me and my dog. The ethos is a 'good home cooked food pub with rooms'. Only tried the breakfast which was home from home. Rooms were extremely clean, tea/coffee kettle provided. Could do with some upgrade on curtains. Old building presents challenges for modern bathrooms - macerator was a bit noisy. Could do with a light above the basin. Large shower. Overall would recommend this as perfect when needing somewhere local to stay.

Hotel room was lovely…. Booked and paid for a room with breakfast. Was told on checkin that breakfast started at 07:45. Waited around in the reception area and no sign of any members of staff. Kitchen was all closed with no lights on. Reception was still all locked up and nobody around. Its a shame but wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. You pay for a room with breakfast and can’t even get a coffee never mind the food you have already paid for. Disappointing…
