My family booked this hotel for afternoon tea after my late husband's memorial service. The service throughout the afternoon was excellent and the food was delicious. No-one hurried us out and this was especially appreciated by those who had to travel from some distance away. Thank you for your care and attention. Cate Mowat and Family.
Will not stay again. Rooms and internal decor are extremely outdated by at least 50 years. Looks like something out of horror movie. Positives.... the onsite cooks restaurant has a very nice menu and the food is very tasty. That's where it ends... The beds are extremely uncomfortable, creaky and squeaky (understand a manor house) however they could do with a revamp, especially in the garden rooms. I had my first night and hardly got any sleep due to a dripping shower, when attempting to use said shower it dribbled. I reported to reception the following morning and asked for it to be fixed. Nobody came to the room at all, went back to reception. I was advised ah just put the shower head in the bath. Not sure how this fixes a dribbling shower nor should I expect to do this at a hotel that is £100+ per night. I was advised they could move my room. Great moved rooms the same issue! Went back to reception and got another room 3rd time lucky the bed was "better" and the shower didn't drip constantly and it worked! Never did i think at £100+ per night would i not be able to get a shower. The audacity they have to offer this place as a wedding venue feel sorry for whoever guests are staying here. Each to their own Stay clear is my advice
My husband and l got a voucher for an afternoon tea as a wedding present in September 2024. Sadly he passed away suddenly in January. As you can imagine it was a shock to us all. The voucher was to be used inside 6 months which had passed. I called the hotel reception last week and asked if they would still honour despite the lapse in time. I explained the situation and was firmly told no the voucher was out of date. I would just like to thank that person for his customer service.
