A fabulous hotel that I highly recommend. I made a last minute work booking (with a dog in tow) and the team were super accommodating and kind. They are truly dog friendly, even providing a little dog bed and bowl for Olive. When I needed to extend my booking, they were kind enough to give me the same room. The rooms are lovely and look into a little park, as very tranquil haven just steps away from the heart of KX. My partner had breakfast and said it was delicious. Would absolutely book again for both work and leisure trips.
It’s always tricky reserving hotel rooms in a major city, unless you’ve got a recommendation from a trustworthy person. The Gyle worked out very well for us. It’s a scruffy area, but very convenient. Interesting style; very comfortable and clean. Great view of the square with its trees and ‘alternative’ inhabitants. Nice breakfast arrangements. Very friendly manager. One thing: the lighting for the mirror in room 9 isn’t strong enough for ladies doing their makeup ( only 40 watts). We enjoyed the hotel very much and will return. Also recommended is the nearby restaurant ‘Spagnoletti’, part of the same group; great Italian food, with fresh pasta.
We stayed here for 3 nights over Christmas. It is a lovely hotel. Given the time period, we said we would treat ourselves so we opted for the Junior Suite. It is a very nice room. We thought the bed was a tad small for a junior suite - but it was extremely comfortable. Storage could be better. The biggest issue we had was in the bathroom area - as the toilet and shower are in an area on their own and then the sink is in the hallway between the bedroom and seating area. There are no hooks to hang clothes and towels where the shower is - so you have to leave items on the toilet seat - which is not great. The light and extractor fan in the shower area comes on/stays on whilst you are at the sink - this was annoying. However, on the plus side - the location was brilliant - it is only a stones throw from Kings Cross and St. Pancras subway/train stations - yet the hotel area is so, so quiet. Overall, I would recommend the hotel.
