The pub sits at the top of a beautiful drive up, the staff were absoluely fantastic to fit a table of 8 walk ins on a Saturday night! The staff were really friendly and did not rush us or make us feel like we were a burden unlike other places in the Lakes. The food was absolutely fantastic, the pork was to die for along with the blackpudding mash. The scampi had the biggest prawns I had ever seen and the batter was so flavourful. The fish and chips also looked huge. This place was great for value with fantastic staff and a great atmosphere. Would definitely come back.
Wonderful quiet location. Staff were all spot on to a tee. Room was lovely. Nice breakfast. Now the downside.... Were told when we went down for evening meal that there was a reduced menu. A bit disappointing when we had paid a hefty price for a birthday treat. They did chuck in a couple of free drinks but we were restricted in our choice of food. Only 4 choices. If we were told this prior to paying we would have cancelled. Also the red wine was awful. Must have been dregs from the end of the bottle.
Stopped here for lunch as we were passing. It's typically Lake District expensive. The place is nice, the staff were nice and the food was tasty. Unfortunately, my sandwich was disappointingly small. I honestly could've eaten two of them. I wish you well, but you need to deliver better value.
