I arrived for a family emergency and needed a place to stay around the hospital. I tried the Hyatt but it was full. Then I went to The Heldrich. I was a bit worried it would not meet my expectations BUT I WAS AMAZED! I checked around the room and everything was clean, every single corner. I have been to 5 star hotels and non were as clean as this one. The staff was amazing too. If I ever go back I will choose this hotel. Thank you Heldrich

Great Location and check in/out was quick. Valet was super kind and convenient, 30 per day and they refunded me the second day because I left early. Now for the bad.... I was supposed to stay for 3 days (2 nights). The hotel room was gross. Blankets were changed but when we flipped them to revise everything they had like specs of dirt on them, not sure if it was off the floor maybe when it was being carried over to be tucked/folded because the floor rug was ancient? The floor in between the bed had like dried up gummy stuff that couldn't come off so i just put a towel over it so we wouldn't step on it. I thought it was just me being picky but then when I went to shower there were strands of hairs on the wall in the shower, not just 1 or 2, it was like a lady just washed her hair and they didn't clean up after.. a bunch. The showerhead was messed up and spraying water upwards where it connects. They came and replaced the shower head to a new one but that new one was now turned to the side and spraying diagonally instead of down which made it hard to shower my kids and it was making a puddle outside of the shower. The pool was gross, it was salty, but there were no signs that it was a salt water pool? They must've put WAY too much chlorine because our bathing suits all changed colors and we've used the same ones all summer. The TVs are ancient, tiny and video was cutting in and out and slow so my kids couldn't watch tv. We ended up leaving earlier than anticipated my kids hated it which is weird because they love staying at hotels for the pools and food. The breakfast is 22 per person, which we thought "Ok maybe the food is great", but we walked in to peek before because our kids usually only do pancakes or cereal but the selection was small and they didn't even have pancakes. We ended up just going to a diner 7 minutes away and ate there for less. I never heard my kids unhappy about a hotel and they are 7 and 6 which we've stayed at some pretty old places and they loved it. They were insisting that we go home that day which my wife and I found weird so we did just that and left a day early. Never again.

The Heldrich Hotel – A Complete Disappointment for Event Hosting If I could give The Heldrich a negative rating, I would. As the maid of honor for a recent wedding held here, I had an up-close view of just how poorly this hotel handles group events. To put it bluntly: do not use The Heldrich for any special occasion, especially a wedding. Here’s why: 1. Room Blocks – In Name Only The concept of a “room block” seems entirely lost on this hotel. Not only were the blocked rooms scattered across nine different floors—making coordination on a wedding weekend nearly impossible—but the block also offered no discount. When I inquired about being placed in the reserved room section, I was told there were still unbooked rooms available, yet they “couldn’t” accommodate me there. To date, I’m still waiting for a refund with no response from management. It’s hard to imagine a more disorganized approach to what should be a standard hospitality service. 2. Parking – Confusing, Expensive, and Mismanaged We were informed that complimentary parking required a minimum number of room nights. When we thought we had fallen, they said by approximately 15 room nights, we paid out of pocket for other family members and guests to make up the difference—only to learn later we had met the requirement. Worse, our final bill included unexplained charges for random vehicles. For a hotel with a valet service, the handling of parking was chaotic and opaque. 3. Checkout Time – A Bait-and-Switch Our confirmation, room key holder, and verbal communications all stated a 12 PM checkout. However, on the day of departure, we were abruptly told checkout was 11 AM. No prior notice was given. Only after the fact were the bride and groom told they were “grandfathered into” the original time—a post-hoc excuse that’s as baffling as it is unprofessional. 4. Event Fridge Policy – Inconsistent and Unclear The hotel provided no clear guidance on the use of fridges for wedding-related items despite the entire wedding party staying at the hotel for the full duration. If The Heldrich cannot accommodate basic, common-sense needs for a wedding weekend, it should not market itself as an event venue. 5. Room Quality – Far from Four Stars The rooms are underwhelming at best. The air conditioning barely functions, and the furnishings are dated and tired—more reminiscent of a roadside budget hotel than a property claiming four-star status. I’ve had more comfortable stays at mid-range chains like Hampton Inn. 6. Staff Conduct – Unprofessional and Disrespectful While waiting at the front desk, I overheard hotel employees openly complaining about guests and fellow staff. Such behavior is wildly inappropriate and speaks volumes about the culture of customer service at this property. In Summary: The Heldrich failed in every meaningful category—logistics, transparency, customer service, and basic professionalism. What should have been a joyful, streamlined experience for the wedding party and guests turned into a series of logistical nightmares. This hotel is neither equipped nor prepared to host events of any significance. Proceed with extreme caution.
