My husband and I really wanted to have a destination wedding after getting the idea from a magazine but we searched forever for the perfect wedding venue in the blue mountains but no matter who we talked to no one would let us do what we wanted just our way! Then we stubled across The Hideaway Retreat. The staff there were so accommodating and helpful and had heaps of contacts and helpful advice. We ended up having our ceremony, reception and everyone stayed the weekend so we could really spend some quality time with our friends and family. We were able to personalise everythingthe way we wanted and it still worked out heaps cheaper than all the other wedding venues we looked at. We just can't thank you all enough. Over the last 12 months you have helped us to organize the most wonderful wedding we could have hoped for and we will never forget it. We whole heartedly recommend it as The Hideaway Retreat is the perfect wedding venue in the blue mountains. All the best for the future and congratulations on the new addition to The Hideaway family!
Just the friendliest Guesthouse we've ever been too. We have always stayed in a hotel in the blue mountains but we will be doing the guesthouse thing from now on when we look for accommodation. They welcomed us in like it was their own home (which i kinda guess it was!)
Very disappointing. We were greeted at the front desk by one of the staff who had a baby in a papoose - very cute. There is a mention of a lounge/bar on the website which would have been nice after a long drive to relax and enjoy a drink prior to heading out for dinner. There is no lounge/ bar and the fire place is in the lobby, so not exactly a place to relax. We were taken to our room and whilst we were given info about breakfast etc, the noise from the people in the room above walking about was extremely loud, the floorboards moving in the room above actually caused the fan in our room to shake. The staff member who was showing us the room did mention that they had never heard that noise before and would investigate what was causing it and moved us to an upstairs room. This room was no better with stained disgusting carpet and the floorboards creaked every time you took a step - we tried to keep walking around to a minimum as we were mindful of guests below. It looks as though some of the floorboards have popped up under the carpet. The bathroom had mould in the shower; the refrigerator was not plugged in and looked very old. We didn't stay for breakfast the next morning as we just wanted to leave. All in all, we were hoping for a short and relaxing getaway and were extremely disappointed - it is shameful that they charge what they do for a room - definitely not worth it. Wendy
