The Hongta Hotel A Luxury Collection Hotel Shanghai

I stayed here for 3 nights and being a Marriott member this gave me confidence to pick this hotel. Hotel is a bit old but does not show in the room upkeep. The rooms are huge with a king size bed, work table, couch, and a view sit out at window giving nice views of the Shanghai tower from the window. I stayed in room no 2010 on the 20th floor. The staff here is polite and helpful. Alipay don’t work for me in china but the staff helped me at front desk to make a payment for food delivery order. The room has a tv, Electric kettle, sufficient water bottles for consumption , complimentary shoe cleaning laundry.

For me the perfect location if you need to visit multiple places in Shanghai. Walking distance to the Century Avenue Subway station with access to 3 different lines in all directions. Super friendly staff, I met the head of the service staff in the elevator on my way to the check out, and he insisted on pulling my heavy suitcase for me. There is a rich selection of western and Asian breakfast options.

Old and worn out. Bad smell, the AC doesn't work, and it’s impossible to open the window... 27 degrees in the room!! We were four people with two rooms, and the AC didn’t work in either of them. We informed the reception, they apologized but couldn’t do anything about it. I’ve stayed at 2-star hotels in Europe with higher standards than this. A real disappointment when you book a 5-star hotel
