One of the Best Hotel Stays We’ve Ever Had The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu absolutely exceeded our expectations. The service was truly on par with the Four Seasons — attentive, warm, and thoughtful from the moment we arrived. Every detail was handled with care, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our stay. The hotel itself is modern, immaculately clean, and beautifully designed, combining luxury with the rich character of Kyoto. Our room was spacious, serene, and extremely comfortable — a perfect blend of contemporary elegance and quiet calm. What really made this stay unforgettable was how wonderful the staff were with our kids. They were patient, friendly, and went out of their way to make our children feel included and at home. As a family, we felt not just accommodated, but truly cared for. The location is fantastic — just a short walk to Kiyomizu-dera and other cultural highlights, yet the property feels peaceful and tucked away. It’s a perfect balance of access and escape. On top of everything, the location couldn’t have been better—right in the heart of Kyoto, making it easy to explore the city. The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu – A Perfect Blend of History & Luxury Staying at The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu was an unforgettable experience where history meets modern luxury. Once a former school, this beautifully restored property is now a 4-star Forbes Travel Guide hotel and a 1 Michelin Key hotel, offering an exceptional stay in the heart of Kyoto. The location is unbeatable, right next to Kiyomizu-dera, with some rooms (including mine!) offering breathtaking views of Yasaka Pagoda. The rooms are a perfect fusion of Japanese elegance and modern design, making for a truly serene and luxurious stay. One of my favorite features was the exclusive guest lounge, which overlooks Yasaka Pagoda—an ideal spot to relax and take in Kyoto’s beauty. Every part of the hotel was impeccably maintained, and you can even learn about its fascinating transformation from a school into a luxury hotel. The renovation work is truly impressive. The service was outstanding, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure a perfect stay. A special shoutout to Nina from the marketing team, who was incredibly kind and welcoming. Dining at SUSHI-BAR@library, the hotel’s stunning restaurant, was another highlight. The Japanese set dinner was an incredible experience, featuring exquisite sushi and seasonal Kyoto delicacies. Breakfast was equally fantastic, offering an authentic Japanese breakfast that was both nourishing and beautifully presented.
