I was surprised at how modern and nice the hotel was. I really enjoyed the games and things to do in the lobby as well as the eating deck, a perfect spot to relax after a day of hiking. The rooms were nice and had everything I needed. Parking is $40 for standard car but many parking garages in the area
Cute boutique hotel. Nice amenities. Staff was very friendly. Lovely room. Hotel has a decent continental breakfast with simple fare but a very nice feature. S'mores for the fire pits in the garden area. Parking garage. We had won a stay here and will recommended to our friends that come to visit Portland!
I'm sorry to have to write a poor review, I really like trying to stay at boutique hotels instead of big brands, but Hotel Zags will not be one I return to. Parking was horribly tight, if you could find a spot at all and charged at $40/night. Then our AC didn't work in our room and the only thing offered was a free drink and a fan was brought to our room. Our window didn't open, so we were stuck trying to sleep in the 79 degree room. It made for a MISERABLE night of attempted sleep. We used the 2 washcloths provided (for a party of 4) to wet and drape over ourselves. The next morning we went downstairs to get breakfast only to find a very picked over sparse offering, no coffee available and no one working the area. We tried making coffee in our room, but someone had put grinds where you normally put water. A new machine was offered, but at that point, we'd had enough. They were able to send maintenance to fix our AC while we walked a few blocks to get coffee and breakfast. We also had occupancy and other taxes levied on non-lodging fees, so people are correct in their statements regarding hidden fees. We would not stay here again.
