The Hut Restaurant & Boutique hotel

This review is for the restaurant only. After eight trips to Kigali, this was my most favorite restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. The service and the food was impeccable. The ambience cannot be beaten for the open air and beautiful views. The prices were on the high side for Kigali, but still very cheap by Western standards. My only complaint was that when we requested a taxi to leave, we were given a price that was twice as expensive as it should’ve been.

I went to the restaurant only and it was my favourite place to eat out in a walking distance from the convention center. The rooftop location (4th floor of the boutique hotel) is excellent for panoramic view of Kigali. The food is delicious with many options including vegetarian dishes. The service is attentive and faster than in other places in Kigali. Eucalyptus-scented warm towels are a nice touch. From vegetarian options I recommend avocado fries, mushroom soup, pasta with Rwandan mushrooms and dodo (it's like spinach), and glazed tofu with sesame. On the ground floor of the hotel you can find a nice stand with local crafts.

We were pleasantly surprised with our flawless meal at The Hut Restaurant. Gorgeous views looking over Kigali, thoughtfully designed space, and an extensive menu. Our meal was delicious, staff were attentive and service was efficient. A hidden dining gem in Kigali.
