What a beautiful hotel. It's lovely to see the historic building been well cared for The service was great and the staff was so helpful. We had breakfast and lunch dinner, and the food was cooked beautifully, and the quality of food was to a high standard 😋. As a full-time carer for my hubby, who is a wheelchair user, the table service at Dinner was lovely it gave me a rest. The only negative feedback is having to pay for disabled parking £10. 00 per night.
Charming old hotel with lovely food, good wine, and clean rooms. The vintage decor adds real character, but service was poor—slow check-in, forgotten orders, and key card issues. Also noticed a musty smell in the hallways for our entire stay (3 nights). With better staff attention, it could be great.
I stayed at this hotel for one night and had a mixed experience. There’s definitely a lot to like about this hotel, but also a few areas that need attention. The Positives: I was really pleased to be allowed an early check-in, which made a big difference to my day. The staff at reception and housekeeping were all very friendly and welcoming, which helped create a positive atmosphere. The lobby area was lovely and relaxing, perfect for sitting with a coffee or just unwinding. I especially enjoyed the outdoor seating area overlooking the beach. It is definitely a peaceful spot that really stood out. The breakfast room had a beautiful charm from the past that added character to the morning experience. Check-in and check-out were quick and hassle-free, which I really appreciated. The hotel also offers baggage storage after check-out, which was incredibly useful since my train wasn’t until the evening. Room for Improvement: Sadly, the rooms are quite dated and in need of refurbishment. I noticed thick dust on the lighting fixtures, which wasn’t ideal, particularly as I have dust allergies. The biggest issue for me was the temperature in the room. There’s no air conditioning, and no fan provided, so the room was unbearably hot, even with the window open. I didn't sleep at all, which really impacted my stay. On top of that, I felt itchy in bed, possibly due to the mattress or mattress topper, another factor that made rest difficult. During breakfast, I was told to wait before helping myself, but after about 10 minutes I saw others going up, so I followed. It felt a bit disorganised and slightly awkward. One plug socket in the room by the bedside was faulty. The plug couldn't be inserted in fully for some reason. Overall: The Imperial has a lot of character and some standout features like its location, friendly staff, and public areas. But the lack of comfort in the room, particularly the heat, would make me hesitant to return unless improvements are made.
