The Imperial Torquay

Lovely location with a brilliant view over the bay, very friendly & helpful staff, room was on the small size with old furniture. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The hotel is on the old side & in need of outside & inside decorating/painting. This was our third visit and it was very enjoyable. It was a pity the outside swimming pool was closed. Parking had a levy of £10 outside or £20 under cover per day

I recently purchased a spa package and have to say, the massage and facial treatment with Jade were absolutely amazing. She made me feel completely relaxed and genuinely cared for—her professionalism and calming presence really stood out. Unfortunately, the dining experience didn’t quite match the same standard. It was a bit confusing to find where to go for lunch, and when I asked for help, the young man at reception seemed visibly annoyed by my questions. Once seated, I waited 30 minutes for a starter and then another 25 minutes for the main course, which felt excessive. Overall, it was a good experience—the spa team, especially Jade, were brilliant—but I think the dining room staff and kitchen could benefit from improving their service speed and communication.

Beautiful old girl of a hotel and an absolute icon. Sadly really showing it’s age and in places it’s beyond tired and close to exhausted. Must be a massive undertaking for the owners to try and keep it going. Restaurant and food is exceptional in a setting that’s hard to beat. Would be great to see this lovely grand hotel back to its former glory. Food……. exceptional Rooms…..tired Staff lovely. Room staff exceptionally helpful. Overall it still has a little bit of shine left. R
