Recently, my husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Kasturi, and we had a truly wonderful time at the resort. We went on a weekday, so the resort was quiet and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing getaway from the city. We booked the Romantic Package, which included a candlelight dinner, in-room breakfast, a massage session, and more. We were lucky to have great weather throughout our stay, which allowed us to enjoy our candlelight dinner by the beach. The food was delicious, and the breakfast delivered to our room was well-prepared and satisfying. Our bed was beautifully decorated. The management was very thoughtful as well and even prepared a small gift for us, a bath bomb (which unfortunately I forgot to bring along for the trip!). The staff were all well-trained and attentive, from the reception team to the restaurant and even security. Contrary to some reviews, we did not experience any delays with the buggy service. Even we called housekeeping to clear the dry leaves from our private pool, they arrived within minutes. However, there was one aspect that left us slightly disappointed, our massage session. There were no clear signs at the main building directing us to the spa. We had difficulty finding the staircase that led upstairs. The spa room also had an unpleasant odor, possibly due to frequent use. We opted for the 90-minute Malay Traditional oil massage. While the technique and pressure were okay, it wasn’t particularly impressive. After the massage, only our feet were wiped clean. We were leaving with very oil bodies which feeling extremely uncomfortable. Overall, we still had a lovely time at The Kasturi. It’s a resort that’s clearly working hard to maintain high standards in a charming town. Well done, Kasturi. Keep it up!
Love everything! The breakfast buffet was great! The accommodation, just wow! Such beautiful architecture with private & clean swimming pool facing the sea. The people here are very friendly and helpful, especially the front receptionist, the buggy drivers, and those serving in the F&B area. Good to chill out from hectic city. Quiet, serene, nature loving. Totally a perfect gateway.
This was, without a doubt, one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The staff displayed blatant discrimination and racism and an unaccommodating attitude from the start. Customer service was shockingly poor—rude, arrogant, and unprofessional at every stage of our stay. Upon arrival, we faced multiple issues with no clear communication or willingness to help. The hotel claims to be a “secluded” property that does not allow children, yet during breakfast there were children running around making a great deal of noise. This makes their policy inconsistent and misleading. They don’t allow family to spend time but it wasn’t in their conditions. Which they caused so many problems for. When I tried to resolve our problems, even the security guards admitted that the management mistreats their staff—providing them with minimal food, no drinking water, and treating them with complete disrespect. They even told us that we were not the only family they have been like this with , they have spoiled so many family trips for a lot of people. That alone says a lot about the culture of this place. I have documented proof of the way we were treated and will be filing a formal report. I will also share my experience widely to warn others. There are far better hotels available—do yourself a favour and book elsewhere.
