The Keelman and Big Lamp Brewery

Had a fantastic Sunday roast at The Keelman — everything tasted homemade and comforting, just how a proper roast should be. I went for the 2-course option (£24.95) and finished with a crumble and custard that was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. The place itself is really lovely — dog friendly with one of the best outdoor areas I’ve seen. Clean, well looked after, and perfect for a relaxed afternoon. There’s a great mix of seating too, including a cosy bar, conservatory, and even an upstairs space. We were looked after by Nikki the whole time and she was absolutely brilliant — friendly, attentive, and clearly a natural in her role. Top marks to her! Didn’t get a chance to use the toilets, but they were available if needed. All in all, a fantastic visit — will definitely be back!

Called in on a Sunday lunchtime, beer garden is very large, has a nice seated area inside. Worth a visit if your in the area. They have good size car park and lodges for hire.

Not overly keen on this place, despite recommendation from others. They had no bottled ciders in stock at all, other than alcohol free. The only cider on tap was classic apple cider, which isn’t what I wanted. The food prices are quite high for a standard pub that has limited drink supplies. £18 for a tuna melt and a couple of chips. I was expecting a large portion and fine quality for that price, but it arrived in a soft bun (not toasted) and spilling out of the sandwich as there was too much mayonnaise mixed into the tuna.
