The Killeshin Hotel

My partner and I had our second child recently but needed to be admitted to Portlaoise Hospital for Post-Op checks and tests. Now, my partner is breast feeding, stressed and unwell. Add onto that the horrible food in hospitals and you can imagine how we’re getting on. Then the Killeshin jumps in. My partner asked to order something from there to go as it’s the healthiest and most nutritious option, which I know they don’t do and I told her we’ll try something else. I rang anyway, explained the situation and within 2 minutes, they agreed without any hesitation. I was even told that they’d hold off on making it until I got there to make sure it was as fresh as possible. Arrived, waited 5 minutes and was handed a to-go box with a mountain of food AND a side we didn’t request. Went to pay, and you know what happened next. They refused point blank! The lady on the front desk was phenomenal and the server managed to lighten the mood for a new father who was on edge over his partner being unwell. Owners of Killeshin Hotel. If & when you see this. Seamless check-in. Do not keep your key card on a RFID wallet, it loses access- lesson learned😁 wellness centre was our favourite- sauna, steam room with cold shower and a long family friendly swimming pool. There’s jacuzzi as well. Kudos to the maintenance staff at the zest wellness centre. Women’s changing room was spotless, they were kind, approachable and resourceful. As long as we were there, cleaning process was continuous. Lockers were available to store stuff, remember to have a euro coin in hand. Lovely stay, fresh room and comfy bed and super soft pillows. It was a sunny weekend, room temp was perfect. All Elemis products for the shower(loved it) Breakfast has wide range options for vegan, vegetarian and meat lovers. We will definitely return.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring. The location is ideal for sightseeing, with many major attractions just a short drive away. The on-site restaurant was a pleasant surprise—delicious food and attentive service without needing to leave the building. The amenities were solid too, from reliable Wi-Fi to a well-equipped fitness center. It’s not a luxury resort, but everything you need for a convenient and enjoyable stay is here. I’d definitely stay again.
