The Kings Arms

I stayed here for two nights in August 2025 and loved it. The building is lovely and the rooms are certainly not a disappointment. I could hear an owl hooting outside and the stars were very visible in the clear dark skies The bathroom is basically a wet room...or mine was. Beautifully peaceful place. Nice beers on the bar and not overly expensive. The restaurant was great. Breakfast was just right and was promptly served. Dinner really was delicious. I had the smoked chicken salad starter (see pic) and it was so nice I immediately wanted another one. Everything I had was freshly cooked with good quality, fresh ingredients. Of course the high quality is reflected in the price but it was not particularly expensive. If you want cheap, then go to McDonalds. The staff were great. Courteous and didn't mind a joke. I loved the place. It was an absolute highlight of my trip. The downside is the phone reception which the hotel can't do much about but their WiFi worked well so I just made calls on WhatsApp.

We stayed here as a group for a local simulated shoot day and I was really pleased we chose this Inn to stay for 2 nights. The twin room I shared with my brother was clean, organised and with a superb modern wet room with rainfall shower. Plenty of hot drink options in the room also. Dinner was excellent given we were a group of about 10 with big appetites and thirst! The Host was very accommodating and patient with us. We will look to do this annually and will have no hesitation in staying here again.

I’ve just returned from an overnight stay at this lovely little hotel. The room was beautiful with a countryside view, and the food was absolutely amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. Location wise it’s just a few miles from Sherborne and from The Newt, both of which made a great day out. It was my first stay here but I’m sure I will be back!
