The Kumaon

The Kumaon had been on my wishlist for years, and it absolutely lived up to every expectation when I finally visited with my partner in January 2025. This property is undoubtedly one of the most premium destinations in India, with stunning architecture, beautiful landscapes, and impeccable hospitality. We stayed in a terrace villa with a breathtaking view of the Himalayas — the kind of scenery that stays with you long after you leave. The rooms were immensely cozy, and the 24x7 hot water was a relief in the chilly weather. Every aspect of the property was thoughtfully designed, down to the smallest detail. The restaurant was exceptional, offering brilliant local food for lunch and seamlessly swapping to delicious continental options for dinner as well. I spent countless peaceful hours in their library, surrounded by books. One of the highlights of our trip was an 8 km downhill trek that led us to the banks of a river, where we enjoyed a delightful picnic. The area is perfect for treks, and the accompanying staff made the experience insightful and enjoyable. A huge shoutout to Eastern Travels for curating our trip with such care and precision. They ensured our pick-ups and drop-offs were seamless and even took us to a fantastic local food joint in Bareilly when we landed. The communication between them & the property was seamless. The Kumaon is a property that nails its hospitality and offers a rare, unforgettable experience. Peaceful place. No tv in rooms. Just sit and relax. Explore nearby areas. Beautiful scenery views. Food was good

WORST STAY EVER. I booked this property for my older parents. Their service is absolutely the worst! Very rude staff. They literally served stale food when my parents requested for vegetarian meals for dinner. The quality of the food and service is absolutely pathetic. There are much better hotels around the area, just do not waste your money here. The rooms also look pretty basic. No point splurging money here. Literally my parents didn’t have dinner that day after they were served stale food. Will never stay here!
