The Lamb Inn Great Rissington

We had Sunday lunch with friends after a late morning walk. A short but interesting menu for lunch. We enjoyed the roast chicken crown. Really good, friendly, efficient service from the team. Recommended!

Had Sunday lunch here which was excellent. Staff very friendly and attentive. One thing we particularly liked was the vegetables that came with the roast dinners. Beautifully cooked, varied and lots of it. A rare case (which we applaud) where there were more vegetables than meat. We did think the menu a little quirky. There were not many options and on the roast dinners it was celeriac for the vegetarian option or beef or chicken breast for two. We did not actually ask but we wondered if you could in fact have chicken for one person. If not, and you didn't want beef, you'd be stuck for a meat roast. And I was a little mortified there was no lamb roast at The Lamb! Roast lamb is my favourite. And do try the bread and butter pudding. Packed with dates and chocolate - delicious.

The Lamb Inn, was a charming little Inn to stay at. It was clean and modern, with a very nice host at the entrance to welcome you and guide you to your room. It is great value for money, however we arrived as the last guests that evening and unfortunately were given the smallest room available. I don’t know how they decide who gets which room if it depends on when you make your booking or when you arrive but we were a little disappointed, especially when we passed by all the other rooms in the morning and saw how beautiful they were. I believe that the Inn is definitely worth a visit and I am a little sad we weren’t as lucky to have the whole wonderful experience which I am sure one can have at this place. My wife and O were literally falling over each other, we had no space to put our luggages or open them. This room should have been used as a single or at least given a lower price ...
