We liked our stay here a lot. The people that work here are very kind, and the place and local lake and flower gardens are beautiful. Food is honestly delicious, at all restaurants. The spa and pool are great. The only downside is that the rooms aren’t that great for the amount you pay - rooms were small, things were literally falling off the wall in the bathroom. I think a wise person would probably pay to use the day spa and enjoy the facilities then go back to London after dinner (the locals literally grab their sainsburys bags and have a picnic by the pool and avoid paying £500+ for a room but get all of the benefits - seems like a shrewd move). I’d definitely come back here as a day spa / dining experience - no complaints really, just you can do it for cheaper than we did!

Asked for a goat cheese omelette and got something even better: a truffle sheep cheese omelette because they were out of goat cheese. The outdoor and indoor pools along with the sauna and steam rooms were all excellent with few people around even though the hotel's 43 rooms were fully occupied. If you want a private feeling spa hotel getaway with an outdoorsy component that is close to London, this is the place. The bar restaurant, which doesn't need reservations, has a heated outdoor terrace with the biggest parasols umbrellas that I've seen. Super service too.

We flew all the way from afar—over 10 hours—to stay at your hotel and celebrate our child’s birthday. The reason we chose your hotel again is because we had such a wonderful experience last time. Our child loved it so much that he specifically asked to come back. However, this visit has sadly been very different and quite disappointing. Firstly, the indoor pool was closed due to maintenance. That was already unfortunate, but we were especially hoping to let the children enjoy the jacuzzi, as they had done last time. Unfortunately, we were told that the spa team—who operate separately—had made a decision that children are not allowed in the jacuzzi. We fully respect safety policies, but this felt very unfair, especially during a birthday stay. When you choose a five-star hotel and pay accordingly, you expect a welcoming environment for families, not restrictions that make children feel excluded. In this case, it was hard to understand the value of staying at a five-star property when something as simple as letting children enjoy the jacuzzi becomes impossible. In addition, many of the thoughtful amenities from our last visit were missing: no children’s games, no toys, no chess or checkers, no rackets—everything had been removed. Breakfast was also a disappointment. Previously, we were served delicious fresh pastries and breads. This time, our family of four was given just two dry pieces of bread—something that felt careless and unkind. We also noticed that several favorite dishes had disappeared from the menu, especially the pappardelle, which our child had been looking forward to. Overall, this visit did not meet our expectations, and sadly, it did not feel like the warm and welcoming place we remembered. Because of this, we decided to cancel our remaining reservation. We are sharing this feedback not to complain, but because we truly hope your team can bring back the quality and family-friendly atmosphere that once made your hotel so special.
