We had a very pleasant stay at the Lexington Hotel on our recent trip to NYC, unlike the other reviews I have read on some websites regarding this hotel. Yes, the rooms are slightly dated and it is an old property, but no complaints. The rooms offering is basic - no amenities like tea/coffee maker etc. but we were promptly sent an electric kettle when we asked for it. Check in was smooth. They do offer complimentary drinking water daily. The location of the hotel is EXCELLENT. Due to the location, the hotel can be noisy (esp at night) but nothing major and quite manageable. They do have a resort fee of $35 + tax per night to be paid at the time of check in - which can be used against breakfast or a credit of 34$ per day at the bar. Also, Marci was kind enough to offer us a late check out option which was helpful. All in all, a great stay.
We've stayed at The Lexington several times. The wife and I enjoy its proximity to the metro and attractions. The rooms are solid (got a very nice upgrade this stay). Though, I had to fix our AC unit myself (rattling). I do not feel especially different or special for being Elite members but I'm also easy to please. Water was offered at the desk, but unsure why not in the rooms, perhaps we didn't stay on an Elite floor? The ice maker is on certain floors but the closest didn't work (5). Again, not terrible but not special either. Will stay again just because of the familiarity and decent service.
If this is a four star, then the stars must go to 10. The lobby is lovely, and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is clean and the room service was great and prompt. The rest of the stay left much to be desired. The room was very humid and our clothes were never far from damp. The AC worked in the sense that it was slightly colder in the room than the summer weather outside, but not by much. The painting and art work had mold on the wood and the frame was falling apart. The shower was what I can only describe as aggressive and wanted to spray water from all orifices at the same time. The location was good for sure, but the price for the room was heavily inflated. The service desk seemed to always have a line, so perhaps it's more of a staffing issue? The airlines did seem to love the place, so there might be a deal set between the two.
