A great hotel in a fantastic position for shops and view. The hotel is nicely decorated with a lovely outdoor patio at the front. There’s a nice dining room for Breakfast. The cooked breakfast was excellent and there was a decent selection for the continental style if that’s more your thing. Our room good for the price. It was big with welcoming decor. The bed was very comfy and the bathroom was good if a little small in comparison to the room, with a ‘step in bath’ shower. There’s no elevator at the property but there are a few rooms on the ground floor if you have accessibility requirements. There’s a small parking at the back of the hotel (about £8) and normal street metre parking at the front. First come first serve.
We booked 3 rooms for a one night stay. The interior of this hotel is beautiful. It has obviously been recently restored with a high standard of attention to detail. For anyone interested in arts and crafts interiors it is stunning. Lovely comfortable rooms with great bedding & many nice touches. The exterior of the building needs attention & does not reflect the standard of the hotel which is fabulous and very good value.
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a few major issues that made it far from enjoyable. First off, the room was incredibly hot. The windows wouldn’t open at all, and the tiny fan provided didn’t do much to cool things down. The view from the room was another letdown. Instead of the promised scenic view, we were stuck looking at the back of a car park with no balcony to enjoy any fresh air or a better perspective. When we asked about switching to a room with a better view, we were told that only two rooms in the hotel actually had sea views. That was a bit misleading since most of the advertising suggested otherwise. The bed was a king size, but it was actually two separate beds pushed together. This meant you couldn’t roll over without feeling the awkward crack in the middle—definitely not ideal for a comfortable night’s sleep. As for breakfast, the “smashed avocado” was clearly pre-packaged guacamole, which was disappointing considering how basic it was. Coffee was from a machine, not freshly made, which was another letdown for those of us who appreciate a good brew to start the day. The service was very slow and impersonal. There was rarely anyone at reception, and when we needed assistance, it felt like we had to wait forever. Bag storage was available, but again, there was no sense of friendliness or warmth from the staff. Overall, this hotel didn’t live up to expectations, and I wouldn’t return unless they made some significant improvements.
