The Loutrel

We stayed at the Loutrel in August 2025 for a romantic getaway. The hotel itself is very charming with a lot of extras such as happy hour, live music on Fridays, and a lounge room with snacks and drinks. All of the staff were kind and helpful but I want to give special recognition to Anesia who was very accommodating to my boyfriend in switching out our room. The hotel is a lovely place to stay in Charleston and close to all of the restaurants, market and other attractions. However, it is also in a quiet area without a lot of street noise. If you go on a Friday, do not miss out on the live musician Kelly Morris who was an incredible singer and musician. We thoroughly enjoyed the set he played.

We spent the weekend at The Loutrel and now fully understand why it’s rated 10 out of 10. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by the front desk staff — they really made us feel at home. Every day at 4pm, the hotel hosts a complimentary happy hour with drinks and appetizers, followed by fresh-baked cookies at 5pm — such a fun and delicious touch! On top of that, they even provided a stylish beach towel bag complete with sunscreen. It felt like they truly thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and relaxing. The atmosphere, service, and thoughtful details throughout the hotel made it one of the best experiences we’ve ever had. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Charleston — we can’t wait to come back!

Rooms are great! Housekeeping staff does a great job. John, one of the bartenders, was awesome! In addition to making great drinks, he recommended 3 different restaurants during our stay. He batted a thousand on each recommendation. Morning breakfast was very good and was included. Breakfast staff was very pleasant and efficient. Definitely recommend the Loutrel for your next stay in Charleston!
