The Marco Polo Hotel

Stayed in Room 31 up top. Very tidy and large room. Open up the windows at night and enjoy the fresh breeze through the place. Bed was king and very comfortable. You get planes landing overhead but won't bother ya sleep. Pool is adequate to cool down. Shallow end isnt very shallow, keep that in mind. Plenty of parking undercover. Restaurant always seemed busy.. but never got around to trying it room service were very friendly. Overall.. was one of my nicer hotel/motel stays in mackay. Just a jump across the road to KFC if you love that and fairly close to everything in general. Washer and dryer $4 gets you 30mins per machine.

No Compassion shown here with Bernadine at all. My partner had come from the medical centre off Hamilton Island to Proserpine Hospital. It was a horrible day weather wise, just rain and overcast. I were recommended by a nurse to get to Mackay after discharge. Marco Polo is a nice place. I phoned and told Bernadine my circumstances , that I were hoping to get there later that evening. My partner circumstances changed and more scans and x-rays needed to be done. We will be at least another 3 hours. I phoned to say I couldn’t make it, it would be late and I didn’t want to drive in the dark, it’s raining. it had been a stressful day. I find a room near the hospital for myself, then to read my emails to find i had been charged $143 at the Marco Polo. I emailed no response. I rang the following day, waiting for a reply from head office were her words. I rang again no refund is possible!!!! I am back home in Victoria now and have enjoyed some beautiful HONEST hospitality along the way. Beware booking this property - they do not care what your circumstances maybe. They just think of their occupancy rate!!

Avoid this horrible hotel!! The rooms are totally disgusting and without any ventilation so the room has a bad smell. The bed is clearly dirty with hair and whatever dark substance at the headend. If this is delux level I don’t want to see the standard level ! The guy in the reception informed that he upgraded one of the rooms to spa level since that they just wanted to use the room's even that they were not fully booked. Just saying don’t use that spa if its dirty as the rest of the place. And when we asked him to check if we could get a room closer to the other room they were fully booked 🤪 furthermore the safety lock to the room was haft missing so it was not present stay at all! Don’t risk your case on this place!!
