The Menzies Ballarat

This motel is in a very central location. Heaps of great restaurants and cafes just a few minutes walk away. Rooms were clean spacious and comfortable. The only down point was the slightly indifferent service we received when we checked in. Still we will probably stay again

Looks fine, Nice sized rooms, fridge, toaster & kettle BUT... walls are paper thin. can hear guests next door and constant noises from outside ALL NIGHT. Shower was hot, and good pressure, grubby spots on he tiles common with old motels. otherwise, towels linen etc all clean. Eateries within walking distance. If staying here, pack your ear plugs.

I have stayed here twice. The first stay was ok, and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. The second time was deeply unpleasant. When checking in, I asked the manager if I could get late check out to 11am. He responded as if I had just made the most ridiculous request he had ever heard. “We are very busy, everyone want late check out, no late check out.” Ok, dude, chill. I proceeded to my room. I had taken care to book the same room type, as my family had enjoyed the size of the room last time. I walked into a room half the size of last time. I went back to the front desk, not expecting much after my earlier interaction, but did ask if another room was available as my room didn’t match what I had booked. “No, we are full,” he responded before staring back at his computer. These two interactions set a negative tone for the stay. Our bathroom smelled moldy. The shower was backed up and overflowed. I guess that is why the bathroom smells moldy. The horrible shower curtain keeps blowing up against you while you shower. The people in the room above us seemed to be having some sort of jumping competition from 12:30 to 1am. In the end I was happy to leave the room well before 10, no need to stay late here. If the manager does not want to provide friendly service to customers, perhaps he should consider other lines of work. Until then, if you are in Ballarat, trust me, just stay somewhere else. I came for the weekend for a special birthday celebration with my family and regretted choosing this hotel. Don’t make the same mistake.
